Some Lesser Known Facts About Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba

  • During an interview, he revealed how he began playing football during his childhood before getting spotted by a person who helped him join the L’ASJA (Association Sportive Jeanne d’Arc) at the beginning of his football career and said,

    It’s funny, but like all young Africans, I started playing in the streets of my neighbourhood with my friends. But football was my life. I was playing every day. Someone saw me and took me to the Jeanne d’Arc club near me, and voila, this is how my football career started.”

  • He was a top goal scorer at his University.
  • He wanted to join a football club in Laval, France, and play in the European football league, but was not able to join the club as he couldn’t get the travel visa authorisation.
  • He started organising an annual charity campaign titled ‘LKF9 Charitas Tour’ in Togo in 2014. He donated school supplies to five NGOs, medicines to the maternity unit of CHU in Lomé, and food to the Lomé Civil Prison as part of the ‘LKF9 Charitas Tour’ from 26 July 2019 to 2 August 2019.

  • The second edition of the tournament, ‘Tournoi de la Reconnaissance – Trophée LABA FODOH,’ named after Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba, was held from 3 September 2019 to 7 September 2019 in Togo.

  • In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he donated 2000 gloves and 1000 masks to the Sylvanus Olympio University Hospital, Togo. He also donated school supplies to 10 NGOs that work toward the education of underprivileged and orphaned children in Togo.
  • In 2022, he organised the first youth-focused edition of the ‘Tournoi de la Reconnaissance – Trophée LABA FODOH’ for the under-17 category.
