- A.Y., while studying in school, participated in various talent searches and frequently entertained guests at parties and events.
- A.Y. began his career with the group S.O.G. in 1996. He began singing solo in 2002 and recorded his first solo album titled ‘Raha Kamili’.
- The first single off A.Y.’s album ‘Raha Tu’ (Pure Joy) was a huge hit and topped local radio and T.V charts. The song earned him a spotlight on the Tanzanian music scene.
- A.Y. is among the first bongo flava artists to commercialise hip hop. He was the first Tanzanian musician to start up business and merge music and business, and inspire other artists to follow the path.
