  • Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh grew up in a Muslim family in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
  • Ahmed Al Sayegh began his career with key roles in state-owned entities, including Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in 1980s.
  • He was a founding board member of Etihad Airways and continues to serve on its board. He played a key role in establishing the UAE’s national airline in 2003 and has been influential in its development and expansion ever since.
  • In 2004, he founded the real estate developer firm Aldar Properties. He served as the chairman of the company from 2004 to 2011.
  • Meanwhile, he also founded Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) and spearheaded renewable energy initiatives.

  • On 17 January 2023, Ahmed hosted Tonga’s Prime Minister in Abu Dhabi during Sustainability Week. Together, they explored renewable energy, climate collaboration, and the COP28 agenda.
  • He represented the UAE at the 9th ACS Summit in Guatemala on 13 May 2023, where he emphasised climate action, energy security, and multilateral partnerships.
  • On 7 September 2023, Ahmed Al Sayegh led the UAE delegation at the 157th GCC Ministerial Council meeting in Riyadh which focused on regional cooperation and international dialogue.
