  • Amr Diab was raised by his parents in a middle-class Arabic family, and he started singing very early in his life.

  • In 1967, he sang the Egyptian national anthem titled ‘Bilady, Bilady, Bilady’ at a festival in Port Said, with the then President Gamal Abdel Nasser present to hear Amr Diab’s rendition.
  • The performance was played on local radio stations, which made it his first Radio appearance too. This performance caught the attention of Port Said’s then-governor, who was so impressed that he gifted Amr Diab a guitar and set him up on the path of music. 
  • In 1984, Amr Diab released his second studio album titled ‘Ghanny Men Albak.’ The album consisted of a total of 9 songs. This album was the first of a series of records he released with Delta Sound.
  • Amr Diab started working hard after taking inspiration from his father, who was the chairman of Marine Construction and Shipbuilding in the Suez Canal.
  • His father has been his biggest supporter in the field of music, and he also inspired Amr to put everything into his musical talent.
  • Amr Diab was chosen to perform and represent Egypt at the 5th Tournament of African Sports in 1990, where he sang in English, French and predominantly Arabic.

  • The American monthly magazine named ‘Rolling Stone’ named Amr’s song ‘Tamally Maak’ the best Arabic pop song of the 21st century. The song was translated and covered in more than 14 languages worldwide.
  • Amr Diab’s song titled ‘Tamally Maak’ was taken in many films across the world, including the Hindi film ‘Murder’ (2004), Tamil film ‘Dishyum’ (2006), French film ‘Coco’ (2009), Israeli TV series ‘Fauda’ (2015),  American film ‘Just Like A Woman’ (2012).
  • In 2004, he appeared in a Pepsi commercial alongside famous international celebrities, including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Britney Spears.
  • In 2006, Amr Diab started his self-titled YouTube channel and started uploading his songs on the same. His YouTube channel holds more than 6.3 million subscribers, as of 2025.

  • Amr Diab has released many single songs and some of them include ‘Bahebak Nefsi Aaolhalak’ (2020), ‘Leh Youm Ma Abeltak’ (2009), ‘Mesh Kol Wahed’ (2014), ‘El Farha El Leila’ (2017), ‘Ya Baladna Ya Helwa’ (2020), and ‘Shokran Min Hena Le Bokra’ (2023).

  • The #ThisisAmrDiab campaign also featured a ‘This Is Amr Diab’ playlist and new Spotify advertisements emphasising Amr Diab’s worldwide popularity. The main goal of his Spotify campaign was to showcase his global reach and impact.
