Some Lesser Known Facts About Areej Al Hammadi
- Areej was born and brought up in Sharjah in a Muslim family as the only girl child.

- Areej fell in love with football as a young girl watching FIFA World Cup games with her family in 1994 and 1998.
- Areej’s football journey started with playing football with her brothers and cousins in the playground. She later joined her university’s women’s football team. During that time, she also gave the trials for the national team, which led to her selection in the national team.
- Areej’s professional football journey started in 2013 with the Al Wahda Football Club.
- In 2016, Areej moved to Dubai to play for Abu Dhabi Country Club. She appeared at the 2019 WAFF Women’s Clubs Championship in Aqaba, Jordan with the club.

- Areej holds two Guinness World Records in sports one of which is Hotstepping. In 2020, she broke the world hot stepper record, a skill in which footballers tap the ball with each foot, in rapid succession, over the course of a minute. She completed 86 repetitions and broke the previous record of 56, which was made in March 2020 in the United Kingdom.

- Areej played for the Fuelees team in the UAE round of qualification for the Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five, a five-a-side tournament, held in Sharjah.
- Aariz has good experience in international football and has competed in various international competitions like the 2015 Aphrodite Cup in Cyprus, the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualification in Tajikistan, and the 2019 WAFF Women’s Championship in Bahrain. She was also a member of the UAE women’s team which participated in the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers.
- Apart from UAE’s national football team, Areej has also trained and played for the UAE national futsal team.
