- Joe Raad grew up in a middle-class family.

- When he was seven years old, his father passed away. At that time, his mother was 24 years old and her parents wanted her to stay with them.
- Joe and his siblings lived separately with their maternal relatives. He lived with his maternal uncle, but his aunt did not accept him. His aunt did not want to spend money on his education, so he left school when he was in class 6.
- After a few years, Joe and his siblings were moved to a foster home. In an interview, he shared that he faced harassment in childhood.
