- Mona Ghanem Al Marri started her career in 1996 as the media and public relations coordinator of the first Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).
- At the start of her career, her family was concerned about her safety as she worked extended hours, but later they supported her career decisions.
- She completed several educational courses on media after she started her career.
- In 1998, she became the project manager of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), an annual shopping festival during the summer season to aid tourism. One of her early contributions in this role was creating a public relations team of professionals and students that helped them save a substantial amount of Dirham 4 Lakhs.
- She underwent a two-week learning at the Washington Press Club, and she played an important role in the opening of the Dubai Press Club (a part of the Government of Dubai Media Office or GDMO and founded by Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates) in November 1999.
- She was appointed president of the Dubai Press Club upon its establishment. Under her leadership, some major projects were the Arab Journalism Award or AJA (started in 1999 to honour excellence in journalism in different categories) and the Arab Media Forum or AMF (the gathering of media professionals that started in 2001).
- She has been supporting the empowerment of Arab women since 2003 and was part of the team that instituted the Dubai Women Establishment (DWE) in 2006. As of July 2025, she serves as the chairperson of DWE.
