  • In 1996, she had a serious car accident while she was travelling with actress Mona Zaki during her return from Alexandria to Cairo.
  • In 1999, she appeared in the radio show ‘Lama Baba Yenam,’ a series which focused on teaching parents how to raise their children.
  • She sued her half sister, Nahed Farid Shawki, in August 2000 after she sold the rights of theatrical screenings and satellite broadcasting for their father, Farid Shawki’s nine films, at a low price of 90,000 Egyptian pounds, without the consent of all family members, including her mother, Soheir Al-Turk, and sister, Abeer.
  • According to Rania and her family, the films are part of their father’s legacy, and should be sold under contracts that include a fixed term, after which rights return to the heirs. The family reconciled following the death of Nahed’s son, Farid, in a car accident.
  • Her marriage to her first husband, Atef Awad, lasted eight years before ending in divorce in 2005.

  • In 2017, Rania Farid Shawky took to her Facebook to reveal that her daughter had been the victim of an attempted kidnapping.
