- He grew up in an upper-middle-class family in Dubai.
- He won the best actor award in a nationwide talent search and the best duet dancer in an intercollegiate dance competition when he was 17 years old.
- He worked for a PR/advertising firm in Dubai Media City while studying in the first year of university. He helped organise several events and festivals for them.
- He won an acting competition, which gave him an opportunity to travel to Mumbai for an all-expense-paid four-month acting programme under the guidance of Bollywood and theatre actors Nadira Babbar and Kader Khan.
- In 2003, he earned a diploma in acting from Ekjute Theatre, Mumbai.
- While studying at the University at Buffalo, New York, he interned for a film production company and participated in several television commercials and documentary shoots.
