- She was named after the veteran actress and her aunt, Somaya El Alfy, by her father.
- She began acting in high school at the age of 16.
- She was encouraged by her family members to join an acting workshop with the renowned acting coach, Marwa Gebril.
- She participated in various activities at her university, including writing, painting, drawing, animation, and stop motion videos. She also participated in ballet dancing and kickboxing.
- She studied philosophy and psychology along with her major in film/video and photographic arts at the American University in Cairo.
