Some Lesser Known Facts About Shweta Subram
- Shweta was born in Mangalore, India. When she was just two months old, her family relocated to Dubai, UAE.
- A few years later, she moved to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, with her family and got settled there.
- In childhood, Shweta began learning music as a hobby. In an interview, while talking about it, Shweta said,
Growing up I was learning Indian music, but at the same time I was exposed to Western music and, of course, Bollywood [which has] everything from folk to hip-hop, pop to jazz, to everything.”
- In 2006, Shweta participated in a prestigious talent hunt by Sangam Kala Group and emerged as the winner. She was awarded the Best Singer in North America Award by the Group.
- After winning the talent hunt, Shweta decided to stay back in India for some time. During her stay there, Shweta was chosen by Zoom (TV channel) to participate in the singing reality TV show, the Sunsilk Gang of Girls. On the show, she was mentored by Leslie Lewis and Baba Sehgal.
- She then appeared in a few Sunsilk advertisements.
- She began her career as a host and reporter for the television program “Sounds of India” on Rogers Channel 22 in Canada.
- From 2006 to 2007, Shweta worked as an Executive Assistant for Radio Mirchi in Mumbai.
- She then worked as a Radio Jockey for CKCU 97.9 FM (CHIN FM).
- In 2009, she joined HumDesi Radio, the largest radio station in North America, and began hosting the Drive Home show in Toronto, Canada. She was associated with the radio station till 2011.

- In 2013, Shweta Subram collaborated with YouTube sensations The Piano Guys for their first Indian-language video, a cover of Swedish House Mafia’s blissful club hit “Don’t You Worry Child.” The song was recorded in The Piano Guys’ Utah studio and received more than 15 million views on YouTube. Shweta translated the original lyrics of the song into Hindi.
